SKARAN – walk on water
Kulturhuset Scala, Nykarleby, Finland, 2026.
SKARAN (Ostrobothnian dialect for the frozen snow crust) is an audiovisual performance where I, together with my adult children, musicians Cajsa-Stina Fagerström and William Ahlskog, seek our roots in the coastal village of Vexala in Ostrobothnia in Finland. Dance, music and video are intertwined into a poetic landscape where personal memories meet the history of the place. Past and present. Longing and heritage. Echoes of those who lived here before us. SKARAN raises the question of whether you can do the impossible and walk on water.
A work in three acts.
HAAVI – the sea
IISIN – the ice
SKARAN – the frozen crust
Duration 40 minutes.
SKARAN premiered on May 9th 2026 at Kulturhuset Scala in Nykarleby.
